Best Restaurants in Putney: A Summary
If you’re in Southwest London, there are some amazing restaurants to choose from. As someone who loves this part of London, we often try new restaurants in the area in an attempt to find the best ones.
Whilst we love restaurants in areas nearby (such as Battersea, Clapham and Chelsea), nothing beats some of the local restaurants in Putney.
Restaurants in Putney will be busy on any night of the week, however, the weekend is when the lines may be out of the door, and you may need to pre-book if you want a table at your favourite.
As Putney is one of the more affluent areas in London, prices in restaurants are usually at the higher end (although they aren’t as high as their neighbours in West London).
You can still enjoy a budget-friendly meal in Putney, but you may need to check the menu first.

20 Best Restaurants in Putney
1. Bosa (Lebanese)
If you’re looking for a mix between good food and entertainment, had to the Lebanese restaurant on Putney High Street, Bosa. When we first moved here, Bosa was at the top of my list. And not just because I love Lebanese food, but it also hosts belly dancing nights at the weekend!
The food at Bosa is delicious, and it always has a buzzing and vibrant atmosphere with Bosa lovers all around. You can either walk in or book a table at Bosa. Find Bosa opposite the Odeon cinema on Putney High Street.

2. Coppa Club (British)
Coppa Club has a few locations across London, with the main two being next to Putney Bridge, and one next to Tower Bridge (with Putney being my favourite).
Not only is Coppa Club known for its aesthetic and dreamy decor, with outdoor igloos and settings along the river, but it’s good value, too! You can get a meal and an alcoholic drink at Coppa for under £20 (and that’s amazing for London!)
They also do a mouth-watering Sunday roast (but you’ll need to book as it gets pretty busy!) Coppa Club is on Putney riverside, right next to the Boathouse pub.
Walk in or book your table here.
3. Chook Chook Indian Railway Kitchen
Forget Dishoom. There’s a new street kitchen Indian in town! When I first spotted Chook Chook, I was so surprised by the colourful decor and authentic Indian aesthetic. I was drawn to it straight away!
Chook Chook serves up dishes from different regions in India and aims to bring a mix of luxury and culture to your dining experience. I’ll be honest, the food is some of the best I’ve had in Putney, let alone London.
The staff are kind and friendly, the menu is extensive and has options for vegetarians and the atmosphere is fun, chilled and easy-going. It’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Putney (ooh, and get the Saag aloo if you visit!)
You can walk in or book your table here.
4. Home SW15 (British)
Home is located right by East Putney station and is a local favourite. With a welcoming, homey and fun vibe in the restaurant, Home is open from morning til midnight. Grab breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails all whilst feeling ‘at home’. If you’re around on a Sunday, they serve a cracking beef Wellington.
Home also won the Best Local Restaurant Good Food Guide award in 2019 for its outstanding food, so don’t leave it off your list if you’re dining in the Putney area!
In addition to having ridiculously good food, Home has some of the nicest staff members in the whole of Putney.
From the moment we walked through the door, we were treated like the only people in the restaurant. The waiters have extensive knowledge of the menu and were able to give us recommendations based on our preferences (including the strongest cocktails!)
We can’t wait to head back ‘Home’ again! (Sorry, the pun was intended).
Walk in or book your table here.
5. Roxie (Steak)
“A steak lovers dream” is their tagline. Famous for their meat, Roxie is more of an experience than just a restaurant.
But don’t worry if you’re not a hungry meat-eater. Roxie also has a veggie burger that is delicious (I’ve tried it myself and it’s amazing) and some of the best chips in Putney.
The best thing about Roxie is the location – surrounded by pubs and bars, you can always carry on the party elsewhere when you’re finished.
Walk-in or book your table here.
6. Beyzade (Turkish)
If you love a chicken shish and lashings of garlic sauce, Beyzade is one of he best Turkish restaurants in southwest London.
Beyzade is right next to East Putney station and is the best Turkish dine-in restaurant in Putney.
They offer lunch and dinner seven days a week. All meat is halal and there are also veggie and fish options available.
You can walk in or book a table here.
7. Putney Wine Bar and Kitchen
If you need a romantic date night, Putney Wine Bar and Kitchen is your place. This restaurant is a cheese and wine lover’s dream.
Set in a dimly lit room, with burning candles on every table and shiny, big wine glasses, you dine in the Putney Wine Bar and Kitchen for the experience just as much as the food.
With a tasty European menu, you can sit and enjoy a small or large plate with a glass of wine and a cheeseboard.
There’s no need to book, and you can walk straight in, but if you want to check out their menu, you can find it here.
8. Kashmir (Indian)
Kashmir is one of my favourite restaurants in Putney and never disappoints. With flavours inspired by this family-run business hometown of Kashmir, India, you can enjoy the cuisine in the most traditional way in this little restaurant in Putney.
The flavours are rich and delicious, with meat and veggie options. If you’re in town, you’ve got to try it!
Book a table for Kashmir here.
9. Sodaeng (Korean)
Sodaeng is an authentic and homey Korean restaurant with great prices and even better food! Located on Putney Bridge Road, a stone’s throw from the river, this small and independent Korean restaurant is becoming one of the most popular eateries near the high street.
They also have great veggie options – I had the barbequed halloumi and Gim Mari, which is deep-fried seaweed with noodles. It was delicious!
“Sodaeng’ is a restaurant that bases its food on Korean traditions and allows people to enjoy the Korean cuisine that we are very proud of. We promise to offer our customers the delicious and unique flavours of Korean cuisine.” – Sodaeng website.
10. La Casa Mia (Italian)
A beautiful, family-friendly and delicious Italian in Putney is La Casa Mia. Located on Upper Richmond Road (next to my favourite Putney cafe, Tried and True), La Casa Mia has a small, independent atmosphere and serves some of the best Italian food you can get this side of London.
Not only is the interior cosy and authentic, but they also have an outside garden for the summer months. La Casa Mia is so good that it’s actually become one of our regulars!
My recommendation: the gnocchi with sausage, or the good old-fashioned carbonara. It is delicious. Yum!
You can book a table for La Casa Mia here.
11. Gazette (French)
Known for having the best beef tartare in town, Gazette isn’t one to miss if you’re a fan of French food.
Order a plate of snails, enjoy home-cooked sauces and drink some of the finest French wine, all in a cosy little restaurant on Upper Richmond Road.
Brunch is served until 5 p.m., and if it’s your birthday, make sure you order the birthday cake (it is crazy!)
Book your table at Gazette Putney here.
12. Pata Negra (Spanish Tapas)
Mmmmmm. Tapas. Peta Negra is a family-run restaurant on Upper Richmond Road, with the owner Pepe having over 50 years of experience.
Not only is the experience in Pata Negra unique but all flavours and ingredients are freshly picked and chosen for your enjoyment.
The menu is constantly evolving depending on the season and the fresh produce available, and it’s a well-known spot in Putney for the best Spanish food in the area.
You can book a table here.
13. Putney Pies
“The finest pies in the land.” And if you ask me, they’re right!
Putney Pies is another local favourite and offers all different types of pies (including a pie in a mug), veggie options and small plates such as mac and cheese balls. Yum.
Pop in for a pie and a pint, a tasty pudding and a glass of red wine overlooking the river.
14. Pappa Ciccia (Italian)
There’s nothing quite like a family-run Italian restaurant, is there? Pappa Ciccia is one of the best Italian restaurants in Putney.
With a menu ranging from gorgonzola pizzas to spicy salami bruschetta, it’s the place in Putney to get your Italian fix. If you don’t fancy dining in, you can also order takeaway and enjoy the taste of Italy on your sofa.
More of a casual meal than an upmarket fine dining experience, Pappa Ciccia is perfect for a quick, tasty meal before heading out elsewhere.
Book a table for Pappa Ciccia here.
15. Tomoe (Japanese)
Another popular Asian restaurant in Putney is Tomoe. Again on Upper Richmond Road, Tomoe serves a range of sushi and authentic Japanese dishes.
“This must be one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants outside Japan -from the decor to the Japanese-speaking staff and the food -which clearly takes centrepiece.” – Tripadvisor review.
16. Preto (Brazilian)
Preto is a Brazilian steakhouse on Putney High Street, with a whole experience planned alongside your dinner.
Like unlimited food? Try the Rodizio Experience! You’ll be given a green card to show you want unlimited servings of meat brought to be carved tableside. Flip it over to the red card to show you need a rest or you’re full! The perfect place to eat until your heart is content…
You can book your table at this Brazilian wonderland here.
17. Taj Mahal (Indian)
Taj Mahal is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Putney, and not only because it serves some amazing Indian food. It’s also BYOB 🥳 .
BYOB (bring your own booze) in London is hard to come by, and will save you a lot of money!
You can order your favourite tikka masala and a few sides all for under £15. It’s the perfect spot for those on a budget. Find the Taj Mahal on Upper Richmond Road, about 5 minutes from East Putney Station.
18. Holy Cow (Indian)
Holy Cow is one of our new favourite Indian restaurants in Putney. With hefty competition from Chook Chook and Taj Mahal, Holy Cow has managed to secure its place as one of the best restaurants in Putney due to its semi-fine dining experience and incredible Indian food.
Located on Upper Richmond Road, Holy Cow offers both in-restaurant dining and delivery options. It’s the perfect Indian restaurant to visit with friends or in a group.
19. Franco Manca (Italian)
Another chain, but Franco Manco hits the spot when all you want is a tasty pizza and a pint of beer. Serving fresh sourdough pizzas from lunch through to dinner, it’s a perfect easy date night spot or somewhere to grab lunch with a friend.
Ooh, and if they’re serving the honey pizza, get it. It’s amazing.
20. Yum Sa (Thai)
“Great tasting food with a Thai twist”. Yes, please! Sit in the garden in Yum Sa and enjoy weeknight cocktails during happy hour with a side of gyoza. Or, treat yourself and book in for an unlimited Veuve Clicquot bottomless brunch.
You can book Yum Sa here.
